Veterans Navigator

    • Hello, my name is Jaime Yslas and I am a student Veteran here at Seattle University. I wanted to introduce myself to you because Seattle University has signed the Governor's Memorandum of Understanding, becoming a partner for Veteran supportive campuses. With this partnership, Seattle University has pledged to make access to Veteran resources more available and to provide additional assistance in navigating the various services offered.

I have been accepted as the Vet Corps representative here at Seattle University and I have three outstanding role models in Timm, Henry, and Adam, the previous representatives. The three of them labored long and hard on the behalf of veterans and I hope to emulate their example.

Veterans bring a wealth of life experiences that are enriching to the classroom environment; however, many of us also have challenges. My role in this is to serve as Seattle University's Vet Corps representative to help my fellow Veteran overcome these challenges and be successful in the classroom. I am charged with learning about the different services here at SU, helping Veterans understand what services are available, and helping to establish connections that will benefit those Veterans.

I am a member of the Veterans Advisory Council so I am well in-touch with the administration of the school. In addition, I am a member of the Seattle University Veterans Committee, a social support and service group for student vets and families.

If you're interested in finding out more information about a particular service or just want to connect with another Veteran please feel free to shoot me an email at yslasj@seattleu.edu or j.yslas@washingtonvetcorps.org or check our Facebook page for the latest news.
