Academics: Uppsala is the oldest university in the Nordic countries–established in 1477. Today's outstanding research and education are deeply rooted in history. Living traditions and culture are one of the strengths of Uppsala University. The University still observes a number of ancient ceremonies, symbols, and festivities, at the same time modifying and renewing them to meet today's demands. The long history of Uppsala University is a natural part of academic life at Uppsala and constitutes the foundation on which today's students and researchers are creating the University of tomorrow.
Study politics from an international perspective at Uppsala University’s Department of Government in Sweden. The program in politics offers a wide range of courses including Swedish politics, international politics, political theory, comparative politics, administrative politics, European politics, political psychology and development studies. At the Department of Government, every aspect of political life is studied - from the ideas of ancient thinkers to the decision-making of today. The problems of democracy are dealt with from the point of view of classical theory and contemporary debate. At the department, the rules and practices of Swedish politics, the origins of power and the execution of power among the electorate, parties and the government are studied. Other study areas are comparative studies of foreign countries, systems of government and politics, as well as the interplay between states at the global political arena.
Credits: Full-time enrollment in 15 semester credits will tranfser back to SU as 22.5 quarter credits.
Housing: Students will receive assistance with arranging housing.
Program Cost Estimates: 2014-2015 SU Tuition, room and roard fees are paid directly to the housing company. Airfare from the U.S., insurance, and personal expenses are not included. 100% of financial aid is portable.
