Krishnaswami and pianist Mark
Salman come to campus for a master class and recital in November. Graduates
of The Juilliard School, they have toured throughout the United States, Europe,
and Asia. Krishnaswami is the founder and artistic director of Simple Measures,
a chamber orchestra. Salman is a co-founder of the Delmarva Piano Festival in
Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Krishnaswami and Salman are local classical
music superstars,” said Dr. Quinton
Morris, professor of music at Seattle
University. “They give an intimate and exciting performance.”
Krishnaswami and Salman will give a master class on November 1 at 6 p.m. for
students in the Instrumental Music Room in Hunthausen. On November 3, they will
perform cello sonatas by Brahms, Debussy, Hindemith, and Schumann at 7:30 p.m.
in Pigott Auditorium; tickets available at the door are $5 students, $8
faculty/staff, $12 general admission. Both events are
open to the public.
The guest artist program is supported
by funding from the Pigott Family Endowment for the Arts.
The College of Arts and Sciences, the
largest college in Seattle University, offers 42 undergraduate majors, 37
minors, and 7 advanced degrees,
including a B.M.
in String Performance and an MFA
in Arts Leadership.
