  • Morris Makes Orchestral Debut

    October 28, 2009

Quinton Morris, the Director of Chamber and Instrumental Music, is making his debut with Orchestra Seattle on Sunday, November 1, at 3 pm, marking the beginning of an invocative collaboration between the SU Music Division and Orchestra Seattle.

Conducted by George Shangrow, Quinton will be performing the Bach Violin Concerto in A Minor with the orchestra at First Free Methodist Church, next to Seattle Pacific University. Through the new Orchestral Internship Program, music students will have the opportunity to perform in the string section of Orchestra Seattle and receive credit towards their degree.

Students will rotate within the sections (excluding the concertmaster or principal seats) and violinists will have the opportunity to rotate in both the first and second violin sections.  In addition, students that compete in the SU Concerto Competition (Friday, May 7, 2010, 6pm in Pigott) will receive a $600 music scholarship for the following academic year and debut with Orchestra Seattle.
