Quinton Morris directs advanced students in the chamber music program at the
annual Winter Student Chamber Concert on March 10. Students will perform a
chamber favorites including Franz Anton Hoffmeister’s Double Bass Quartet no. 2 in D major, W.A.
Mozarts’s Piano Trio in E-flat major “Kegelstatt,” K. 498 and Adagio and Rondo
for Glass Harmonica “Piano” and Quartet, K. 356.
The Bachelor of Music in String Performance in the College of Arts and Sciences is a
professional degree program with an emphasis in solo and chamber music. In
addition to building a solid musical foundation of fundamentals, history,
theory, and composition, students apply their skills through regular private
music lessons and participation in one or more of musical groups. The Music
Division features the Young Eight string octet as artists in residence and
hosts guest artist master classes throughout the year.
The concert takes place at 7:30 in Pigott Auditorium. Tickets,
available at the door, are $5 for SU students, $8 for SU faculty and staff and
$12 general admission.
The Department of Fine Arts offers several undergraduate degrees, including music,
theatre, and visual arts, and an MFA in Arts Leadership.
