     During his last quarter at the University of Washington, Mike interned for the Washington State  Department of Corrections in Seattle. Shortly after graduating college in 1971, Mike began working for the Department in Everett, Washington, as a Community Corrections Officer. After receiving his Master’s Degree at Pacific Lutheran University, in 1976, Mike promoted through the ranks to become the Associate Superintendent at the Monroe Correctional Complex from 1992 through 2002, when he retired.  He received the Washington Correctional Association’s Professional Award in 2001, “For outstanding contributions to furthering the mission of Corrections.”

    Since retiring, Mike has continued working for the Department, and  has proudly taught a Corrections course at Seattle University since 1999.
