Leadership and Professional Engagement Award

    The College of Arts & Sciences Leadership & Professional Engagement Award recognizes the graduating student in the College of Arts and Sciences Graduate Programs who has demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities and professional engagement. The recipient is an innovative forward thinker, making new roads in their chosen field. Their professional development efforts contribute to the vibrant educational experience in their graduate program.

    Candidates may be nominated by graduate faculty, staff, or students. A selection committee consisting of members of the Graduate Executive Committee and Arts and Sciences Graduate Council will be formed to narrow the field to three students. The final decision will be made by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

    Students meeting the following criteria may be nominated:

    • Eligible for Graduation in June 2014
    • Has demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities embodying the values and mission of the College.
    • Has proven abilities/focus on professional development which enriches their educational experience and models excellence for their program. Examples of such abilities are shown through innovative thinking in their work in one or more of the following areas: volunteer work, professional experience, assistantships, practica, internships, projects designed and carried out, etc.
