Service Immersion

  • SPACES STILL AVAILABLE!  FINAL DEADLINE MAY 23RD!

“Students, in the coarse of their formation, must let the gritty reality of this world into their lives, so they can learn to feel it, think about it critically, respond to it’s suffering and engage it constructively.”

-Rev. Peter Hans-Kolvenbach, SJ, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, Keynote address at Santa Clara University’s Justice Conference, October 6th, 2000.

Campus Ministry’s Service Immersion Programs challenge students to explore more deeply the values of justice, solidarity, simplicity, community and spirituality.  Students engage in a year long cohort program learning about the complex historical/social/economic/political realities of the communities in Belize and Ecuador.  Students travel to West Virginia, Belize, Ecuador and Mexico to humbly learn and serve with marginalized and vulnerable communities with whom we have long standing relationships.  Each program draws on the wisdom of Catholic Social Teachings and the richness of Ignatian spirituality.  Students gain tools skills for critical reflection and for integrating these experiences into their vocational discernment.  All students are welcome and encouraged to apply.  Applications are available in Campus Ministry and must be submitted by May 23rd.  For more information please contact Seán Bray at  brays@seattleu.edu or 206-296-6079.
