Jeremy Stringer, Ph.D., is the Program Director and founder of the SDA Master’s Program. He teaches SDAD 575: Best Practices in Student Services, SDAD 576: Leadership and Governance in Postsecondary Education, SDAD 577: Foundations of the Student Affairs Profession, EDUC 584: Comparative Educational and Social Policy and EDAD 570: Leadership in Education I. Dr. Stringer has been a vice president of student affairs, an associate provost, both an academic and student affairs department chair, and has led a university-wide strategic planning process. He served as the national chair of the Faculty Fellows of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. He is co-editor of the Handbook of Student Affairs Administration published by Jossey-Bass in 2009. He is on leave during fall 2010 as he serves as Dean of Students aboard the Semester at Sea.
Erin Swezey, M.A., M.P.S., coordinates the Student Development Administration internship program and teaches SDAD 564-6: Internship in Student Development Administration I-III and SDAD 579: Capstone Seminar in Student Development Administration. She has broad experience in student affairs, including positions as Assistant Director of Residence Life, Director of Campus Ministry, and Director of Community Service/Co-Director of the Center for Values and Service at Loyola College in Maryland. In 2001 she was chosen as the Outstanding Administrator of the Year at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. During 2010-2011, she is serving as the interim Director of the SDA program.
Erica Yamamura, Ph.D., is the graduate project coordinator (MA degree track) and an associate professor in the SDA program. She teaches SDAD 559: The American Community College, SDAD 578: Student Development Theory, Research and Practice, SDAD 579: The Capstone Seminar, SDAD: 591: Research and Assessment, and SDAD 595: Graduate Project in Student Development Administration. Dr. Yamamura has worked in academic affairs and student affairs to increase access, diversity, and equity for underrepresented students, including the UCLA Center for Community Learning, UCLA Early Academic Outreach Program, the UCLA Higher Education Research Institute, and UCLA Office of Residential Life. At Seattle University, she actively engages in community-based learning and research. To date, she has partnered with a number of on-campus partners (Division of Student Development, Center for Service and Community Engagement, and the Learning Assistance Programs), open-access institutions in the region (Bellevue College, Cascadia College, South Seattle Community College, and North Seattle Community College), and K-12 (Seattle Public Schools, Middle College High School).
