SU legends Ed and John O'Brien were honored during the Dec. 11 men's basketball game against Idaho as the university announced the naming of the Ed and John O'Brien Center for Athletic Administration. Ed and John excelled as student-athletes during the 1950s. Through the years they have remained supportive of the university and its athletics program. The announcement coincided with their 80th birthday. The O'Brien Center, at 1218 E. Cherry will house SU's administrative staff.  

 

SU women's basketball coach Joan Bonvicini joined such luminaries as Warren Moon and Pete Carroll for the Salvation Army's annual celebrity bell ringing event on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, to raise money for local charities. As shown in this video clip, Coach Joan is as adept with the bell as she is with the ball. Thanks to Stacy Howard, media relations manager, for the video.

 

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends filled the Library Plaza Dec. 1, 2010 to begin a new Seattle University tradition. Festive refreshments were served, carols were sung and a tree was lit. The evening, which was billed as "lluminating the Holidays" was organized by the Associated Students of Seattle University.  

 

The Commons asked Seattle University faculty and staff what they are thankful for. Here are some responses.  

 

Two Blackhawk helicopters descended on Seattle University's Championship Field on Friday, Nov. 19. The airlift exercise was part of a training involving the Washington Army Air Guard and 4th region area ROTC cadets.
