Nearly half SU employees participate in 2013 giving campaign
This year, nearly half of the SU faculty and staff community made charitable contributions in support of the university-that's more than 20 percent above the national average.
Twenty one departments ranging in size from 5 to 200 faculty and staff members showed their appreciation and support of Seattle University students by contributing to areas such as the Seattle University Youth Initiative, athletics programs and scholarships. More than half of SU's departments contributed at percentage rates of 50 percent or more. Two departments attained perfection with all employees contributing.
The campaign, which ended June 30, was led by co-chairs Patrick Murphy (College of Nursing) and Janet Shandley (Graduate Admissions).
"Seattle University's faculty and staff go above and beyond the call of duty every day," said Betsy Barnum, assistant director for annual giving. "The Faculty and Staff Campaign is just one more way we can show our students that we have a commitment to their education and life beyond the classroom. As members of the SU faculty and staff community, you make great things happen."
