Connecting the Classroom, Campus and Community

At Seattle University, learning, inspiration and fellowship extend beyond the classroom and the campus. The Center for Services and Community Engagement (CSCE) connects students and faculty with meaningful opportunities to serve in our local community.

As a national leader in community engagement, CSCE is here to match your personal and academic interests with nonprofit organizations that need and value your talents, skills, energy and passion.

The life you transform may be your own. Through the CSCE, you can:

    • Engage locally to engage globally. Our Seattle neighborhood is home to residents from Latin America, Vietnam, East Africa, China and many other places around the world.
    • Graduate prepared to lead. Gain the skills to make positive social change in cross-cultural communities—skills that will serve you and the world for the rest of your life.
    • Expand your understanding. Through service, students and faculty can immerse themselves in a wide world of experiences right here in Seattle.
    • Build relationships based on mutual respect, shared commitment and celebrating successes. Community engagement adds a rich dimension to your academic experience.

    We’re Honored

On behalf of faculty, staff and students, Seattle University proudly received the 2012 Presidential Award Community Service from the White House, one of just five such awards in the nation.

The award recognizes the Seattle University Youth Initiative, which is becoming a national model for place-based educational initiatives.

We share this honor with more than 30 community partners, Seattle Public Schools and the youth of the Bailey Gatzert neighborhood, who teach us so much about resilience and hope.
