Seattle U welcomed more than 60 companies and organizations to campus yesterday, for the university’s largest career expo of the year. Recruiters were looking to fill positions ranging from internships to managers. Nearly 500 students, alumni and friends of the university attended.

Job seekers had the opportunity to connect directly with representatives from Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, start-ups and more, including: The Boeing Company, Amazon, Microsoft, Starbucks, City of Seattle and Treehouse.

The state of Washington’s unemployment rate has held steady at 9.1 percent, but Seattle U’s Career Services has teamed up with these businesses participating in the expo, hoping to decrease that rate.

“80 percent of jobs are never posted and are found through networking,” said Gayatri Easeey, interim executive director for Career Services. “An expo like this brings all these great companies together in one place to give our students and others the opportunity to find jobs they might not otherwise know even existed.”
