Seattle University Students Dance for Charity

2013-02-19

WHAT: Students will dust off their dancing shoes and throw on their favorite flair to dance the day and night away in Seattle University’s 6th annual dance marathon. The 16-hour event is a fundraiser for Seattle Children’s Hospital and features food, games, a silent auction (signed Russell Wilson football, Westin Hotel stay, etc.) and of course, the dance-a-thon.

SU is one of the pioneer schools on the west coast to start a dance marathon as an established student-driven fundraiser, and others are following suit.

More than 200 dancers are currently registered to participate. The group’s mission statement is to, “advocate and promote awareness of Seattle Children's Uncompensated Care Program through a foundation of hope, love and fun. We are committed to make a difference in the lives of children and their families by aspiring to give them the gifts of a renewed hope, a dream and a chance."

100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Seattle Children’s program. Before the dancing has even begun, students have already raised more than $29,000, surpassing last year’s $23,000 raised. This year’s goal is to at minimum, hit the $30,000 mark.

The public is welcome to cheer on the dancers.
