How do I install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client on a Windows computer?

Resolution

The Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client is used to establish a connection between the computer you are using and the campus network.  This is only required when trying to use services such as Email, Network Drives, or Remote Desktop when off campus.  For more information, please visit our article on What is VPN and why should I use it?  The Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client should already be installed on all Seattle University laptops.  If you are already familiar with VPN and would like to install it on a personal computer, please proceed to the next step.

Step 1: From off campus, visit https://vpn.seattleu.edu to get the client.

  • When prompted with the File Download - Security Warning window, select Run.

    Step 2: After the download has finished, you will be prompted by another File Download - Security Warning window.  Select Run again.

    Step 3: On the Welcome to Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client Setup Wizard window, click Next.

    Step 4: On the End-User License Agreement Window, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next.

    Step 5: On the Ready to Install window, click Install.

    Step 6: On the Installing Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client window, wait for the status bar to indicate that the installation is complete.

    Step 7: On the Completing the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client Setup Wizard window, click Finish.

    The shortcut for the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client should now be in your Start Menu under All Programs and the Cisco folder.

    You may now use VPN for access to Email, Network Drives, and Remote Desktop.  Please review one of our KB articles for instructions on using VPN.

    CryptoLocker on T Drive

    April 11th 12:00pm

    A CryptoLocker attack on 3/31/14 between 11:25am and 3:30pm impacted some University T Drive files. Impacted files are visible but encrypted, and cannot be opened. OIT has successfully restored thousands of impacted files. If your files are still encrypted from the CryptoLocker attack, please contact the SU Help Desk and submit a request to restore impacted files.
