Virtual Private Network (VPN)

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) creates a secure, encrypted connection to the Seattle University main campus network from networks outside of the campus firewall. It allows access to specific Seattle University network resources as if your computer was connected directly on campus.

Requesting Access

Please note that VPN only works if a user is off campus. 

All faculty, staff, and students with a Seattle University network account automatically have access to VPN.  To access for the first time, simply open a web browswer, and point it to https://vpn.seattleu.edu.  This will download and install the Cisco AnyConnect client.  For future connections, start up this application.

Access for vendors is granted on a case by case need, and can be requested by contacting the OIT Help Desk at (206) 296-5571 or helpdesk@seattleu.edu.

Technical Support

VPN is supported by the OIT Help Desk. If you have a question about installing or using VPN or if you are experiencing a technical issue with this service, please contact the OIT Help Desk at (206) 296-5571 or helpdesk@seattleu.edu for assistance. In the event of technical difficulties, the following information must be provided to the OIT Help Desk so they may better assist you:

  • Operating System and version.
  • Web browser name and version.
  • Your IP address and DNS information.
  • How you are connected (cable modem, DSL, wireless, 3g / LTE, etc).
  • Any error messages you receive when attempting to login or install the VPN service.
