Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is Seattle University's virtual lab environment that can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection and web browser. VDI provides students, faculty and staff with a standard lab desktop that has common software pre-installed. Students can access specialized academic software from home or the residence halls as well as print to open lab printers directly from their laptop.

Requesting Access

All Seattle University students, faculty and staff automatically have access to VDI using their standard network account.

To access VDI using Windows based computers, please visit https://vlab.seattleu.edu and follow the prompts.

To access VDI using Macintosh OS X computers, please use the following instructions.  Using your Safari web browser please click this link https://www.seattleu.edu/oit/restricted.aspx or go to www.seattleu.edu/oit and click the “downloads” tab.  Logon with your username and password.  You will then be presented with a list of downloadable applications.  Click the download called “View Client for Mac OS X” and install this onto your computer.  When prompted to enter a host name in the address field, enter vlab.seattleu.edu. You will now be able use your Mac as though it is an SU lab computer.

Technical Support

If you have a question about using VDI or are unsure if difficulties you are experiencing are a technical problem, please contact the OIT Help Desk or call (206) 296-5571 for assistance. If the issue is determined to be technical in nature, you will be asked to open a support request with the OIT Help Desk.
