Transfer Students

How to Apply

  • Transfer & Post-Baccalaureate applicants should submit the following:

    • Common Application for transfer admission with Seattle University Member Supplement. Students who have previously applied to Seattle University on January 1, 2012 or later are not required to fill out another Common Application.  Please fill out the Update Form to update your application.
    • A non-refundable application fee of $55.  Undergraduate applicants are only required to pay the application fee one time.  The fee is considered already paid for those updating applications for subsequent quarters, or who have taken an academic hiatus and are applying for readmission. The fee is not required of students who will have completed an associate's degree at a Washington, Arizona, California or Oregon state community college by the time of enrollment and who are transferring directly to Seattle University.
    • Official transcripts from each college, university or professional school attended. Transcripts may be mailed to:

    • List of course work in progress.
    • NOTE: Although the online Common Application includes School Forms (College Official's Report/ Instructor Evaluation), Seattle University does not require these for transfer admission consideration. We will gladly consider any letters of recommendation you would like to submit, however. For instructions on how to bypass this requirement in the Common Application, please click here.

    *Transfer applicants with fewer than 45 credits completed at a college or university following high school graduation are required to submit official copies of their high school transcripts and SAT or ACT scores with their applications for admission. 

    Proof of English Proficiency

    Bilingual students should note that the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of applicants for whom English is a second language. This can only be waived for applicants who 1) have spent or will have spent all four years in non-ESL coursework at an American high school that has English as its primary language, or 2) have SAT critical reading and writing scores of 450+, or an ACT English subscore of 22+. It is the prerogative of the Dean of Admissions to require TOEFL scores of bilingual applicants after an initial review of your application, regardless of having indicated that English is your first language.

     Applicants may submit one of the following:

    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results:
      - Internet-based TOEFL: a 68 is required for English Language and Culture Bridge (ELCB) consideration / 92 for general admission consideration.
      - Paper-based TOEFL: 520 for ELCB / 580 for general admission consideration.
    • International English Language Testing (IELTS) results:
      - 6.0 for ELCB / 7.0 for general admission consideration.
    • SAT critical reading and writing scores of 450 or higher.
    • American College Test (ACT) English and reading subscores of 20 or higher.

    Transcripts from a U.S. high school or an American school abroad with four years of English (no ESL) might be considered for proof of English proficiency on a case-by-case basis.
